This print was created while visiting the University of Tennessee Knoxville Printmaking Department; as part of my practice, I attempt to combine processes to create a cohesive work.
The Process: The print is a four-color lithographic of a photographic image with a handset type that builds out around the image. A pressure print flat was printed around the image to create a middle-ground space for the type to feel cohesive with the photograph.
Conceptually, the texts I am referencing are insults, but in Mexican American culture, they are viewed in terms of endearment. In my practice, I am exploring the conflict I sense within my own bifurcated Identity as a Mexican American Woman.
