This piece was made in collaboration with Sonnenzimmer, the collaborative print practice of Nick Butcher and Nadine Nakanishi. The collaboration began with screen printed imagery by Sonnenzimmer and then followed by letterpress printed forms as a second layer. We then alternated screen printing and letterpress printing, building the print with each pass. This edition was created in the spirit of experimentation and collaboration with no set theme or goal to guide the final form. The results emerged through the proceed of passing the printed sheet back and forth between studios. The final print is a lively interplay of abstraction and form, word and image. Pop It! is 4-color letterpress, 8-color screen printing and blind-embossed.
